E Pluribus Unum, from the Latin meaning, “Out of Many, One,” appears on the Great Seal of the United States and is approved by congress, it was designed by Charles Thomson in 1782. This ambitious goal, which some said could never happen, characterized the efforts of our early statesmen.
This concept was sorely tested by the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865 in which some 600,000 men died. The fractious issue was slavery and though the Union prevailed, much of the South’s infrastructure was destroyed, some never to be rebuilt.
Today, one has to wonder? Can we honestly say we are “One?” Our nation’s administration is intransigent, our congress divided. Enclaves exist within the nation which seem divorced from all others. The concept of unity is pretty far down the list…and slipping.
Christians, without regard for race or location, are to be one in Christ. Our defining feature is to be love, shown to one another and the world at large. This goes against our nature but is the litmus test. The Body of Christ is the ultimate, the real E Pluribus Unum.
Red Nation Rising has its foundation based on E Pluribus Unum. Do You?
